Prevail follows through on the shared community learning and economic gains made by savings groups (SGs) formed during Transform. SGs are self-governed, where members choose officers and leaders tasked to administer group activities and enforce policies formed by and agreed to by the group. Prevail is an evergreen program available to SG leaders raised through the Transform program for as long as they feel the need for ICM’s support. ICM facilitates monthly meetings for continuing education on savings group strategies and other business and livelihood skills relevant to savings group and community enterprises. The leaders, in turn, share these lessons with members of their savings groups. Adapting a train-the-trainer approach also has the added benefit of helping ensure operational efficiency for ICM, allowing us to maintain program quality even as hundreds of savings groups join the Prevail Network each year. At present, ICM supports a network of SG leaders from about 3,000 community savings groups (estimated 90,000 unique savings group members).
