Brief Description
In partnership with the Institute for Social Entrepreneurship in Asia (ISEA) and Oxfam Pilipinas, the Food Hives project helps enhance the capacity of women in Cavite, Marinduque and Nueva Ecija to manage community seed banking enterprises that produce seeds of organic vegetables, herbs, fruits and root crops for food security. The project mobilized 83 women leaders who set up community seed banks (CSB) in the cities of Muñoz and San Jose in Nueva Ecija province, and in the town of Gasan in Marinduque province. PRRM also established a seed resource center in the Global Center in Silang, Cavite. The CSBs have produced and distributed OPV seeds to members of local women’s organizations.
