Aboitiz A-Park Program

Brief Description

APARK is the Aboitiz Group’s largest environmental program that supports the DENR’s Expanded National Greening Program. This flagship program, under the Group’s ‘Environment’ pillar aligned with Carbon Emissions Reduction, is a focus area under ‘Planet’ of the Aboitiz BetterWorld framework. Launched in 2010, the initial goal was to plant three million trees by 2015. With the annual Group-wide Simultaneous Tree Planting that began in 2009, the target was easily surpassed; the new goal was nine million trees by 2020. This was again surpassed and as of 2021, 11.73 million trees have been planted. Through APARK, Aboitiz is one of the biggest private-sector partners of DENR’s reforestation initiatives. It is also the Group’s contribution to UN SDG 15, which seeks to protect the Earth’s terrestrial ecosystems. Tree species planted are carefully selected to ensure high survival rates. The Group’s tree-growing partnerships began in 2017 with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation (RAFI) and Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). The project with RAFI, also in partnership with DepEd-Cebu, aims to grow 500,000 native trees in Cebu. The partnership with PBSP aims to plant 500,000 trees within the Marikina Watershed. Today, we also partner with NGOs and POs to implement and continue the project.
