Dietary supplementation for nutritionally at-risk pregnant and lactating mothers

Brief Description

FH's dietary supplementation activity focuses on improving the nutritional status of nutritionally at-risk pregnant and lactating women (NARPLW), helping promote optinal health and nutrition for children during their first 1,000 days (F1KD) of life. When mothers experience micronutrient deficiencies during pregnancy, this can affect neonatal health and development. Poor maternal health may also result in childbirth complications. Under FH's intervention, the NARPLW, mainly those in their third trimester, will be enrolled in a 90-day feeding actity, for 5-7 days a week. FH works with a third-party supplier to prepare one hot meal per day based on the DOH's Pabasa sa Nutrisyon program. This is often complemented with nutrition education sessions on exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and other topics necessary for mothers to know in order to support their child's health and wellbeing.
